Do you like whimsical dog photos?
Dog photographer, Lisa Olson with Pets R Family in Ogden Utah, is starting a new pet photography sensation called Lolli-PUP Pops. These fun comical photos with dogs licking lollipop props is a great way to show off your dog’s playful personality.
Lollipop photos can be done during your dogs photo shoot or booked separately as a mini photo shoot.
How is lolli-PUP Pops photo shoots done?
For starters, don’t feed your dog’s real lollipops! Lollipops are full of sugar and can be a choking hazard, so they are NOT a treat for your dogs.
Good news is that the lollipops I use are just props. The dogs do not actually eat a lollipop during the photo shoot. I found a cleaver way to encourage the dogs to lick a lollipop prop without giving them a large dose of harmful sugar and other ingredients.
The lolli-PUP Pops are a photo shoot prop, designed and handmade by me.
I researched material that could be used to make the lolli-PUP Pops that are non-toxic, durable, washable, shatter resistant, pet friendly and safe to use during the photo shoot.
The lollipop props have been such a big success with other dog photographers, I sell them on Etsy.
How I make the photos look more comical?
With the bright colors that are complimentary it gives the photos a fun, uplifting, positive feel to the photos.
I also uses a photography trick of lens distortion that makes the dogs head, nose and eyes look bigger than they do in real life. This gives the photo a unique whimsical look that makes people smile when they see it. (Lens distortion: whatever is closes to the camera appears larger/bigger and exaggerated with certain lenses).

Dog moms are moms too!
Pets R family believes in encouraging dog moms to step outside their comfort zones and have a photo shoot with their dogs. It can be more comfortable having your furbabies by your side if you are uncomfortable being in front of the camera.
A Lolli-PUP Pop shoot is a great opportunity to do something fun and different together while making beautiful images and memories together.
What to do with the photos after the shoot
I recommend wall art prints and displaying them in a series of three. This is a great way to showcase a fun variety of whimsical photos from your photo shoot.
Print what you want to keep FURever and enjoy seeing every day. No one shows off their flash drive to friends and family, but they would enjoy seeing printed pictures on your wall or in a photo box.
